In Response to Chelsea Bronn: Monica Lewinsky

In response to Chelsea Bronn’s blog post on Monica Lewinsky’s interview with Vanity Fair, I feel as though she has a right to come forward with her story, but I don’t understand why she feels the need to do so now. Even if she felt the need to come forward after the teen’s suicide in 2010, why didn’t she come forward four years ago? I am not surprised that the interview and topic is trending on Google and Twitter because of the media frenzy that happened 16 years ago. I think that Vanity Fair will produce a non-bias interview allowing Lewinsky to express herself and her side of the story, but I’m not sure if the timing with Hilary Clinton’s upcoming bid in the Presidential election, and the current positive press, as Chelsea mentioned in her blog post, with Bill Clinton’s daughter’s pregnancy announcement. I feel like although the article will be somewhat accurate, it is several years after the affair so details can be blurred-especially with the media attention and rumors that arose with their affair. It is also difficult to get the full story because of the politics involved as well as the amount of time it’s been since the scandal. Although details have remained quiet, I think it is interesting she claims the Clinton’s never paid her off, but she was still offered 10 million dollars for her story, and declined it but now is re opening the issue. I agree that it will be interesting to see the reactions of Bill, Hilary, and response of Monica once the full article is released within a few days, and the information revealed to us through the media.
